Chrysalis was one of my second paperclay dolls i curated that was a lot like my first doll- Genesis. Her story is that she is like this sort of Moth-Butterfly metamorphic creature. Chrysalis is the name for a butterfly cacoon- Although I planned for her to be a moth. I was seeing so many moths during the time I began making paperclay dolls and that is how Chrysalis was born. I felt she came to me from another realm, when she was complete i truly felt such an alien like energy about her. It’s hard to describe what she is really. Her clothing was made from a thin gauze i began to tear up into tiny little pieces and began gluing on individually, i tried to mimic a ‘cacoon look’. Her feet are what gives her some edge and moderness, as she has these sock like boots on with these old metal buttons i had. It’s really just all teared up fabric, i love the tiny exposed fibers and her delicate flax linen hair.
